Storm Weekly Wrap! (Friday 28th May)

Storm Representative Program

Weekly Summary: Friday 28th May 2010

Welcome to our weekly wrap of the Bellarine Storm Basketball Representative Program.

Under 14(B) Girls

Score: Bellarine 39 defeated Corio Bay 17

Top Scorers: Emily Baker (10pts) Sherri Panayi (9pts) Finlay Neal (8pts)

Game Report: The girls had a pretty good game yet again.  Once again our defense was good and forced Corio into making a few turnovers.  The girls put up a lot of good shots unfortunately they just wouldn’t drop.  Corio threw us a bit with their zone defense as it was very tight but the girls managed to get around them.  The highlight of the night was Sherri’s 3 pointer from the top of the key with 3 seconds to go.  Well done girls, everyone played well.  We are half way through the season and I am extremely proud of how well the girls are going.  Keep up the good work girls

Under 16 (B) Girls

Score: Bellarine 41 defeated Diamond Valley (4) 22

Top Scorers: Allison Marsh (15pts) Laura Ellis (12pts) Kassey Doyle (4pts)

Game Report: The game started tight, with Diamond Valley making the most of limited scoring opportunities. Laura Ellis showed leadership from the start & all the girls responded. Our forwards played strong & with powerful rebounding (especially from Ally Marsh in offense), we managed to break away & lead 23-13 at ½ time. Our guards had excellent control of the ball & play. It was great to see the girls all connect so well as a team, in particular our passing & confidence in driving was the best we have seen for ages. In the end we came out with a convincing win 41-22. I hope we can take all the positives from this & go forward, as our position on the ladder doesn’t reflect our position in this tight competition.
