Under 14 (A) Girls

Score: Bellarine 26 defeated Altona(3) 23

Top Scorers: Hannah Barakat (10pts) Madeline Hinkley 4pts)

MVP: Hannah Barakat - Hannah stood up offensively tonight and was always looking to cut and drive hard to the basket. Her movement without the ball was exceptional.

Game Report: We traveled up to Altona for our first game of the regular season. After a long preseason it was good to finally have a game for premiership points. We got off to a flying start and led by 14 points mid way through the first half. Altona did a good job changing up their defense and put our girls under a lot of pressure and we didn’t respond quick enough letting them back into the game. The second half was very even and points became hard to come by for both teams, luckily we had done enough in the first half to hold onto the lead and we walk away with a very important away win. We look forward to a good season and we will only get better as we move forward.

Under 14(B) Girls

Score: Bellarine 36 defeated Diamond Valley(5) 26

Top Scorers: Emily Baker (9pts) Sherri Panayi (8pts) Finlay Neal (6pts)

Game Report: The girls played a brilliant game Friday night. We started off with a full court press and Diamond Valley could not break it. I was extremely impressed with the girls defense and team work Friday night. The girl’s passing in the first half was spot on and they did a great job of running the lanes and were on fire with their shooting. We came out just as strong in the second half. The rebounding was also excellent tonight. The girls fell asleep for a couple of minutes and Diamond Valley got within two points, but then the girls switched back on and finished the game how they started, very strong. Well done girls. Keep up the hard work and the great teamwork.
