Bellarine Storm

Bellarine Storm – VJBL Wrap

Friday 14th June 2013

Under 12 (2) Boys

Bellarine Storm 2 (18) defeated by Collingwood 3 (33)

Best Players: Kai Keenan and Harry Edwards

Top Scorers: Kai Keenan

Game summary: A slow start really hurt us this week.  We were down by 12 points at quarter time and were unable to catch up.  A highlight was the defence, but we were let down by our passing, which allowed them to score too many fast breaks.  We would have had a higher shooting percentage, however we struggled to beat there press.  They were able to grab more rebounds which is something we have worked on at training.

Next Week: Bellarine 2 v Bacchus Marsh at 6.50pm @ Home

Under 14 (1) Girls

Bellarine Storm 1 (51) defeated Sandringham (39)

Best Players: Holly Milsome (14pts, 6 rebounds), Raini Matthews (12pts, 3 assists) and Quinn Murphy (5pts, 5 rebounds and 5 steals)

Top Scorers: Holly Milsome (14pts), Raini Matthews (12pts) and Georgia McKinnon (7pts)

Game summary: The girls looked forward to the challenge of taking on the Number one ranked team form the other VC pool and relished the contest.  Bellarine took an early lead, jumping Sandringham in the first quarter by 10 points, which proved to be the difference despite a 3rd quarter fight back from Sandringham.  Raini Matthews settled the girls well in offence while Holly Milsome delivered in defence.  A highlight was Agnes’ 3 point bomb from down town in the 3rd quarter.

Next Week: Bellarine 1 v Melbourne at 7.20pm @ Home
