Storm Wrap - Friday 19th April
Bellarine Storm – VJBL Wrap
Friday 19th April 2013
Under 14 (2) Boys
Bellarine Storm 2 (41) defeated by Altona 2 (56)
Best Players: Kai Murphy, Lachlan Potter and Mike Mortimer
Top Scorers: H Goodier (15pts), T Ness (7pts), K Murphy (7) and L Potter (5)
Game summary: The game was there to win, the second quarter let us down allowing Altona (2) to outscore us by 14 to 4 and that was the difference in the end. So next week’s game we need to play four quarters of basketball, not three.
Next Week: Bellarine v Collingwood at 8.40pm @ Melbourne Girls College
Under 14 (3) Boys
Bellarine Storm 3 (31) defeated Altona 3 (27)
Best Players: Riley Coghlan, Jackson Smith and Ryson McHenry
Top Scorers: Riley Coghlan (12pts), Jeb Taylor-Hewson (4pts) and Luke Potiriadis (4pts)
Game summary: The first quarter was very tight, with the score ten-all at the break. Bellarine missed a number of shots at goal early in the game, but Riley Coghlan managed to bring some stability to the team by playing great defence and shooting a goal on the half time buzzer, to keep the score level. The final half of the game produced some terrific basketball, the Bellarine boys maintaining their focus and confidence even when the score was very tight. Thanks to Tony McKenzie for coaching the boys this week, while Steve was away.
Next Week: Bellarine v Whittlesea 2 at 8.40pm @ Mill Park
Under 16 (1) Boys
Bellarine Storm 1 (41) defeated Werribee 2 (37)
Best Players: Z Tarleton, J McDonald-Mayne and K Wilson
Top Scorers: Jack McDonald-Mayne (13pts), K Wilson (11pts), J Ness (5pts)
Game summary: A very physical game and our defence was the difference. If we can limit our turn-over’s we will be very competitive this season. Bring on the next game.
Next Week: Bellarine v Sunbury 2 at 9.40pm @ Sunbury
