The U16 girls had a really good tournament this weekend. Our first game on the Saturday was against Phoenix, which is a domestic team. We weren’t a very good morning team but we still had a reasonable good game and won by 5 points. Our defence was pretty strong but we just had trouble scoring. Our second game was against Dandenong 4, who are sitting 3^rd in Metro 4 and we are 2^nd in N1, the girls came out ready to play and played a great game. Our defence was excellent and we could actually score goals this time. Once again the girl’s team work was brilliant and we won this game by 4 points.

Our first game on the Sunday was another early game and was against Mornington 2, unfortunately we had our first loss for the weekend but it was only by 2 points and the girls still put in a great effort. Our defence yet again was good but they hit a lot of shots and were a pretty good team. Our next game for the Sunday was probably our best game for the weekend. It was against Sunbury 4 who beat us when we played them in VJBL. This was our first finals game. The girls came out strong and never let up until the siren went at the end. Our defence was the best it has ever been and at one stage Abbey, Tahli and Mysti worked together brilliantly to get 8 very quick points. All the girls worked really well together in this game and we ended up beating Sunbury by 8 points.

Our next game was on Monday morning and was the Semi Final. We faced Dandenong 4 again but unfortunately this time we couldn’t get over the line and gave them their second win for the tournament. The girls came out strong and had a good lead, but Dandenong just chipped away at it and it became a very close game. The girls played really well but just couldn’t hang in.

Overall though every single player in the team played well all weekend and worked hard in every game. A big thankyou to the girls for all their hard work and I know by the end of the tournament they were all extremely tired. Also a big thankyou to all the parents for scoring and their support on the weekend and all the loud cheering when we played Dandenong. Also thankyou to Sandra and Jeff for doing the stats all weekend, I greatly appreciated it. Once again girls well done, how well you worked as a team and supported each other and you made Sarah and I very proud of how well you worked all weekend and also the way you carried yourself on the court when the games got very physical and dirty. Thankyou to the other storm teams that came and supported us in our Semi-Final and well done to the u12 girls for their good win in the grandfinal.
