Under 16 / 18 Championships - Long weekend
Early forecasts for the Labour Day Long Weekend indicate that there will be excessive heat. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued the following forecast:
Saturday Sunny. Min 24 Max 38
Sunday Very hot. Sunny. Min 24 Max 41
Monday TBA
A decision regarding the suitability to play during the heat of the day will be made on Tuesday. It is possible that some games will be moved into the evening - particularly on Sunday 28 Feb.
Also, there have been several teams withdraw from the Championships. Revised fixtures will be posted on Tuesday afternoon.
Participants are advised that there will be compulsory time-outs for drinks breaks during games. This will be announced on the day according to the prevailing temperature.
Referees are advised to wear black shorts rather than long black pants.
Information regarding heat distress will be available at the tables upstairs in the Bar area. Posters listing signs and symptoms, and treatment for heat distress are on the walls around the stadium. Please take note of the information contained on them.
