G'Day footy fans! Round 3 is in the can and it was a week of nail biters across Ontario, four of the games were decided by two kicks or under.
Phantom picked all games by 19 points so was not to far off.
Let's take a real quick look at what happened:
Etobicoke Kangaroos v Toronto Eagles
The western derby was a good old fashion arm wrestle in wet conditions after a downpour just prior to the game. As Phantom predicted, no Chippa for the Roos and it might have been the difference. A goal in it all game with the Eagles sliding over the line. Same goal kickers as every week for the Roos and Sauce kept his goal streak alive for the Eagles.
Interesting name on the teamsheet for the Eagles: Demons legend P. Loughnane.
Toronto Rebels v Grand River Gargoyles
Phantom's spies say this one got a bit chippy with both sides bringing the biff. Rebels almost kicked themselves out of it with 13 behinds but managed to hold off a fast finishing Gargoyles. Kerm back to his goalkicking best with 4 and the Law Firm in the best again for Grand River. Rebels spread the workload and had lots of good contributors which makes it hard when Gargoyles only had 17 players. Josh McMillan best on for the black and white with newbie Paul Webster adding 2 goals.
Of course the Love Bros were in the goals!
Hamilton Wildcats v Central Blues
Phantom identified this as a crucial game for the Blues with a tough next 5 games. Wildcats jumped out to a handy 3 goal lead in there home opener but faded and were beaten on the siren. Memo to the league: don't sleep on Hamilton. Well done to the Blues for finding a way to win. 7 goals from Goedheer helps and his tiny angry counterpart Digits added 3 on the other side. Among the best for the Blues were Guerra, Donkers and Wong...could be a rival law firm?
Toronto Dingos v Broadview Hawks
Game of the week didn't disapoint with Broadview clawing back from 3 goals down at the main break to win. Word is Shutts kicked one after the siren so it was a 1 point game at that stage. Only Shutts played of the Hawks big goalkickers and at the other end Wade and Fridge gave the Hawks plenty to think about. Not as many goals as Phantom thought but apparently was a cracking game. Royle best on for Hawks and McKay best for Dingos with Duggan also in the best in his first game of the season.
High Parks Demons v Ottawa Swans
Phantom has already changed AFLO's instagram and now he's even managed to convince the Ottawa Swans to list the best players on sportingpulse. Phantom should be in politics. Ottawa rebounded after a shelacking from Broadview to hand out their own punishment to the Demons who got 19 to make the drive up. Six multiple goalkickers and 5 from World Team midfielder Nathan Strom helped with pile on a 145 point win. Bogadn Rotaru was best on for Ottawa in the win and Kyle Graham kicked 3 in his first game of the season down from Montreal.
There we have it another round of AFLO in the record books!
