Footy Heads! We're back with another big round of Ontarian footy this week as #AFLOrd6 kicks off. A couple of key games as we find ourselves at the half way mark of the Home and Away season.
Expecting a couple of these games to be very hard hitting as some seasons are getting very close to points of being make or break! Here are my predictions
Eagles v Demons
A Friday night game at Humber looks to be a great one and really is anyones game. 2 weeks ago I would have had no hesitation picking the Dees but after their huge loss to the Hawks I am not sure which team will show up.
The Eagles are coming into a bit of form but they definitely struggle to run out full games and put scores on the board. Some big second halves would be good to see from the old boys. With 2 wins each this season it is a pretty important game for both sides, question is who will want it more?
Phantom Prediction - Demons by a goal
Rebels v Blues
The undefeated Rebels take on the Blues who have had a bit of a rough start to the season. They are back in the winners circle finally and will be desperate to be 3-3 at the mid-way mark of the season. They made a big run for the finals last year only to be upset by the Swans and not make it, don't want to leave that run too late this year Blue Steel.
The Rebels are the big improvers and have a decent sized target on their backs. They are bound to drop some games sooner or later but I don't see it being this weekend.
Phantom Prediction - Rebels 25 points
Dingos v Swans
It goes without saying that the Dingos are struggling so far in 2014. Injuries to key players and others on vacations it hasn't been fun for the proud boys in red and black. This game is almost at the point of make or break as they don't want to be sitting with only 1 win at the half way point of the year.
The Swans will be down in force and looking to cement their place in the Top 4. A big win over the Gargoyles has filled them with confidence and you might even say these birds are flying. This game is big for their season as they can be 4-2 before heading home for the rest of the month. With some key Canucks heading to Australia for the IC, they need to get as many wins in July as possible.
Phantom Prediction - Swans 6 goals
Wildcats v Hawks
The Wildcats host the Hawks at Mohawk Park and should have some solid numbers in attendance. The Hawks are without Killa and Dullard which will slow them down a little but I think they will still have just a bit too much up front for the Wildcats to handle.
While the Cats continue to get better with the likes of Johns and Sherwood, they're just at opposite ends of the scale with the Hawks having just a bit too much experience.
Phantom Prediction - Hawks
Gargoyles v Roos
The Roos hit the road down to Guelph to take on the Gargoyles in what will be a hard hitting game as there definitely is no love lost between these two sides. The Gargoyles play their field well and do not like to lose at home. After going down to the Swans in Toronto for the Canada Cup, they're going to need to get these 4 points or be sitting 2-4 at the half way mark. Robbo won't be liking that situation considering he and some of his best players will be in Australia for the month of August.
The Roos have only dropped the one game this season but considering their numbers are low for Friday night home games, I doubt they will have more than 18 ready to hit the 401 at 9am on a Saturday.
Phantom Prediction - Gargoyles 3 goals
Womens
Demons v Roos
Little bit of a tough one to call as the Roos seem to be a little up and down but with a nice break between games, the girls on both sides will be refreshed and ready for a good game. Despite me giving them some chirps early on, the Demons continue to lead the charge again this season. Hard to go against them this week
Phantom Prediction - Demons 20 points
That's it for #AFLOrd6 everyone. Good luck all teams, can't wait to see tonights game at Humber South!
