Well footy heads, the time has come and the final weekend of footy in Ontario for Season 2013 is only a couple of days away.
The weather doesn't look especially promising at the moment but who knows what could happen this time of year!
Lets hope its a great day and we see some great games, here are my predictions for the weekend!
Division 1 - Broadview Hawks v Toronto Dingos
This really should be a cracking game considering the Dingos are one of only two teams to have taken out the Hawks this season, but keep in mind that was right back at the start of the season. The Hawks have only dropped one game since then, to the Blues on a day when they were well undermanned.
Forget that one!
The Dingos will need more than just their big guns to play well on Saturday, they need everyone to fire. Stewart always pops up with 3 or 4 goals but it can't rest on his shoulders, it always rests on his shoulders!
The likes of Big Wade Edwards who needs to stand up and be counted. His kicking has really gone down the toilet in recent weeks.
Is Jimmy Duggan going to tag Dullard? You would hope not. OB will do his usual, get easy kicks behind play, drop in the hole. If I was Shutts, I'd look at sitting on his head early. He might have to lift the work rate on Saturday early and get back further, especially if Brady is lining up on Shutts as that will be a mismatch.
That raises an interesting question, who will take Shuttleworth? Dave Wells? He may have the height to stand with him? There really are too many big Hawks for the Dingos to match up on up forward so I think that could really cause them some trouble. Then again, the Hawks are exactly known for being hard at the football.
Plenty of pretty boys out there and the Dingos will hit them hard early! It should be interesting to see who will be men and who will be mice on the occasion. As much as I have respect for the Dingos, I can't go past the Hawks on Saturday Phantom Prediction - Hawks by 22 points - Best Aussies than the Dingos
Division 2 - Toronto Dingos v Broadview Hawks
I haven't done a Division 2 report this season but I thought I would give the guys some love. It should be a good game but unfortunately I don't think the Hawks will be able to make it two in a row. The undefeated Dingos have gone thru the season without anyone coming close to touching them.
While the Hawks do have some quality older Aussies, the Dingos have a lot more run and they will run the older Hawks into the ground.
Phantom Prediction - Dingos by 35 points - too young and fast for the Hawks veterans
Women's Division - Hamilton Wildcats v High Park Demons
Lining up for their second battle in 3 weeks and second Grand Final in two seasons, the Cats and Demons are probably as close to Women's Division rivals as you can get at the moment. They have both pretty much dominated the competition in recent seasons, but it is safe to say the Demons have the edge.
The Wildcats will come ready to play and with some of their players having strong rugby backgrounds, look out for them to come with a physical style of play. Kendra Heil will lead the charge and run all day. Look for the likes of Pepper, Kwan and Fluit to stand strong also!
The Demons haven't played much footy in recent weeks (months) but I think after their shock loss to the Cats a few weeks ago, will be looking to return the some favours. Erin Loughnane returned to some form last week with 3 goals, and she will be looking to McNaulty and Valaitis to play some big games too.
In what looms to be a great game of football in the women's division, I am not to sure who to pick. I have heard rumours that it could be played on full ground this week for the Grand Final. If this is true, it will certainly favour the Demons who will use that space to get their good ball users in open positions.
Phantom Prediction - Demons by 11 points
It's looking like it will be an amazing day, so make sure you head out and support footy here in Ontario! As always make sure to keep active on twitter with and don’t be afraid to send me a few tweets and banter before or during the games at
Good luck to all the teams!
