FIVE huge games in Round 3 this weekend as sides look to either separate themselves from the pack or hang on for dear life. Footy returns to Scarborough and Mohawk Park as the Hawks and Wildcats play their home openers.
Instagram update: Rebels, Hawks, Demons, Roos, Blues, Gargoyles, Wildcats and Dingos are uploading photographs. The Eagles and Swans must still be on MySpace...make the switch!
Alrightyyyyy then, lets jump into Phantom's Predictions.
Etobicoke Kangaroos vs Toronto Eagles
The Eagles and Roos do battle in the AFL this weekend in a quirky coincidence but Phantom prefers to watch Friday Night Footy at Humber South. This is a huge game for both teams with the Roos looking to stay undefeated and the Eagles looking to stay in contention with the top few. Phantom's inside mail has Chippa at the Montreal F1 which is a huge out for the Roos. Etobicoke has conceedded a few goals early in the season which is dangerous with Falcioni coming into form.
Phantom Prediction: Eagles by 19
Toronto Rebels vs Grand Rivers Gargoyles
Phantom wants to take a moment to reflect on the impact he's had in a short space of time this year. For those who missed it, Grand River finally launched its instagram page last week after getting a whack from Phantom before Round 1. Welcome to technology boys. Talk about an 8 point game for
#RebelsBrand and
#gargoyles as both teams look to escape a dreaded 1-2 start. The black and white rebounded very nicely last week with a big win over the Blues but Phantom is concerned about their ability to shut down Grand River's multiple goalkicking options. While Herbert & Dyer sound more like a Personal Injury Law Firm, we must keep an eye out for AFL Ontario's new hit sensation the Love Bros.
Phantom Prediction: Gargoyles by 19
Hamilton Wildcats vs Central Blues
The big improvers vs The big sliders. The Wildcats return to the Hammer with a win under their belt and a gimme against last years runners up. Hamilton have recruited well, have their prodigal son Justin Settle back in the lineup and stalwarts Dirago and Lombardini have returned to help out as well. Central have exchanged midgets over the first two games with Goedheer and Wills in and out of the team, getting them on the park together is critical as both are goal creators. Steve Rutledge has been in sensational form early in the season grabbing two BOGs in two bad losses. A Blues loss and it's curtains with their next five weeks
reading Swans, Roos, Hawks, Gargoyles, Dingos.
Phantom Prediction: Wildcats by 19
Toronto Dingos vs Broadview Hawks
Game of the week. The Hawks get their second GF replay this season with a repeat of the 2013 final. The Dingos stumbled a little bit last weekend but have still been good early on and with Edwards, Stewart and Butch up forward they can beat any side. They have had 18 goals kicked against them and that's not good against a Hawks team loaded with Shuttleworth, Ryan and Cragg up front. ANother shootout? Phantom wants to pick the upset but the Hawks have been rolling too nicely and they are good at Scarborough. One thing for sure it will be physical.
Phantom Prediction: Hawks by 19
High Park Demons vs Ottawa Swans
First things first Phantom hopes High Park gets a full team up to Ottawa for this one. The Dees had good numbers last week but it's always a tough trip for Toronto teams as the sun comes out and cottages become more appealing. Head Coach Cummings has done a good job so far to even get them on the park. The Swans came back to earth with a thud last weekend against the Premiers and may be licking there wounds. Ottawa need a big win to keep pace with the Roos and Hawks and keep up hopes of a home final. What do you think the chances are of either team listing their best players on sportinpulse? If you put the goalkickers in the best players box is right next to that....c'mon!!!
Phantom Prediction: Swans by 19
Until next week footy heads..
