STATEMENT: Under 16 Boys Competition

The 2017 season is about to get under way and our under 16 boys numbers are slightly down on previous years and with Forbes taking there junior teams to play in the Young/Grenfell competition this year we had to think about the best and fairest way we could get a competition with all the boys so as they won’t be playing the same team every week.

The decision was discussed at length with the following put in place with what we had to work with 4 teams of 6 boys with the option of each team to sub up to 3 under 16 girls into their teams playing a 6v6 format on a reduced size field under SSF playing rules.

This leaves the option open for further registrations as the competition kicks off and opening it up to under 17 boys to help generate more numbers. There is also the concept of playing three rounds in this format then combining 2 teams together on the fourth week for a full sided, full size and full rules game working the season on a four week cycle till finals unless more numbers register to where we could possibly turn the competition into a larger team competition.

We as a committee had to make the hard call without much help from supporters when the matter was discussed at the advertised meeting. We have set this seasons competition up on how we felt was the most beneficial, fair and best suited way.

If there are any other ideas out there we are open to the suggestions to be submitted. The style of competition that has been decided is based on skills training, fitness and over all strengthening in the game of soccer.
