AFL Canada's grant program is designed to encourage the growth and development of Australian Rules Football in Canada. Any member of AFL Canada may apply for a grant to assist in the general development of Australian Football and for the general development of Australian Rules Football in their region.
AFLC grant applications must be submitted via an online form to the AFL Canada Grant Committee:

AFL Canada has SIX grant classifications:
1. Pilot Project Grants
Got an idea for a project or program that will help grow the game of Australian Football in Canada? Submit your idea and it may be able to be funded by AFL Canada.
Your submission will need to include:
- An outline of your proposed project.
- What are your goals for that project (ie, recruiting, game visibility, etc)
- Key performance indicators - how will we know the project is successful?
- Timelines for your project.
Items that will not be funded under this grant category are:
- Operational expenses including wages.
- Tournaments in areas that are already established.
- Ancillary or non-essential equipment.

All Pilot Project grant applications will be reviewed by the AFL Canada Grants Committee and a decision will be communicated to the applicant after the closest AFL Canada Board Meeting.
2. Junior Australian Football Grants
Current or developing AFL Canada Leagues and Clubs may apply for the New Junior Club Grant to assist with costs associated with developing a Junior Australian Football Program. Please note that wages will not be funded.
The Junior Clubs Grant may be used toward, but is not limited to the development of :
- In SchoolAustralian Football Programs
- Intramurals
- Auskick Sessions
- Under 13/15/17 Tournament based programs
One of AFL Canada's major focuses is to develop a consistent base of junior programming across the country in order to develop a sustainable base of Australian Football in Canada for years to come. In 2021, a major focus of all leagues and clubs across the country will be focussing on returning to Footy and regaining former members after and affected 2020. AFL Canada encourages all members to explore how further how gaining funding for developing aspects of your club (ie, women's footy, juniors and other programs) can enhance those goals in 2021.

All Junior Australian Football grant applications will be reviewed by the AFL Canada Grants Committee and a decision will be communicated to the applicant after the next AFL Canada Board Meeting.
3. New Club Grants
Current or prospective registered leagues or teams may apply for a grant to assist in the start-up of a new Australian Rules Football club. The applicant must demonstrate ongoing intent to develop Australian Rules football in that region.

All New Club grant applications will be reviewed by the AFL Canada Grants Committee and a decision will be communicated to the applicant after the next AFL Canada Board Meeting.
4. New University Club Grants
Prospective University Clubs are encouraged to apply for the University Club Grant to assist with the formation of their club. Grants may be used toward costs associated with the formation of the club such as field rental, advertising materials, equipment, etc.
All University clubs must be associated with a Canadian University. The grant may also be used working toward becoming an official club of that University.

5. Projects in Growth Area Grants
The Projects in Growth Area grant is specifically targeted toward projects being run by existing clubs and leagues, designated to take place in targeted growth areas. Projects in the cities of Montreal, Toronto, Halifax, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Ottawa will not be funded.
Examples of these areas could include:
- Areas that do not currently have an Australian Football presence.
- Areas that have had an Australian football presence in the past, but no longer do.
- Areas where the only presence of Australian Football is a University club, or a club that is still supported by the New Clubs Grant.
Funding will be determined based on the proposed budget within the grant application. Funding from this grant may be utilized towards costs associated with:
- Running Australian Football tournaments - field rental, advertising, etc.
- The creation of junior leagues and/or Auskick programs.
- Development of in school Australian Football programs.
- Other projects specifically designed to grow Australian Football in a geographic area with no presence.
Your submission will need to include:
- An outline of your proposed project.

6. Goal Post Grants
Got your field all set but missing one thing? AFL Canada's Goal Post Grant is designed to ensure your club has the permanent infrastructure in the form of Goal Posts at your field.
Temporary or removable goal posts will not be funded.
