Board of Directors - Papakura Netball Centre

Papakura Netball Centre (PNC) seeks experienced, skilled & passionate board members to take up three (3) appointed board member positions on its Board of Directors.

Commitment required
An estimated commitment of 3 days per month plus attendance at least 2 weekends per year.Attendance to monthly Board meetings is required.

HISTORY

  • Well established provider of netball in Papakura since 1938
  • Formed after a meeting of the Papakura Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club and the decision to start a basketball club. Played at shared facilities in Green Street. Funds raised to build a pavilion and floodlights
  • Shifted to Smith’s Ave Complex in 1967
  • Moved to Bruce Pulman Park in 1997 So many people have volunteered so much of their time and energy to ensure that this game which means so much to NZ women, girls and families has a vibrant successful home in Papakura. We feel very proud to represent those women here today and we hope that we can carry on their legacy and continue to promote netball as the premier women’s sport in Papakura.

WHO ARE WE?

  • Netballers from 3 years upwards
  • Pre-schoolers, primary school children, collegiate, seniors, masters, mixed
  • Beginner, school, club, social, elite, representative players  Individuals and families
  • Hard working volunteers to highly qualified coaches, umpires and administrators

MEMBERSHIP

  • 2700 registered playing members
  • 270 teams each with a coach, manager and umpire – approximately 700 Officials
  • Every Saturday those people are supported by hundreds of parents and supporters
  • We estimate that visitors to the Papakura Netball Centre exceed 5000 people every Saturday and Wednesday night in season
  • We represent the diversity of the community of the extended Papakura district – in age, culture, ethnicity and socio economic backgrounds
  • We are the premier provider of netball for the extended Papakura community

CURRENT FACILITY

  • 20 outdoor netball courts
  • Large pavilion, office complex, formal conference room, informal conference room, commercial kitchen and players changing facilities
  • Construction of new 6 court indoor complex due for completion in 2017
