The Hornets and Western Stars both hold a 6-2 win-loss record but the Hornets are on top thanks to their for and against percentage. The Victorian Dandenong Rangers with 4-4 are in the third while the Goudkamp Gladiators are yet to record a victory.
In the clash of the round, Hornets v Western Stars followed and the Hornets were convincing in their 55-40 win. After the two teams were separated by only one point at half time, 26-25, the Hornets stepped up their defensive effort in the third term outscoring Perth 19-7, and setting up the win.
Five-time Olympian Liesl Tesch was the dominant force for the Hornets with 18 points and 11 rebounds, but she had plenty of support from fellow Gliders Sarah Stewart, who added 14 points and eight rebounds, and Katie Hill, who posted 11 points.
