Aussie Wheelies prepared for Paralympic World Cup

The tournament tips off on Thursday when the Rollers will prepare to defend the title they won in 2009 and the Gliders hope to carry their hot form into the competition after winning the Osaka Cup in February.

The Paralympic World Cup provides great preparation for both teams as they prepare for the IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships in Birmingham in July and will allow the Australians to measure themselves against their worlds opponents.

The Rollers will be up against Italy, Paralympic rivals Canada and hosts Great Britain. The Gliders will take on the Netherlands, Canada and Great Britain.

For the women, the four nations participating have all been drawn in Pool A for the World Championship and will play each other in the preliminary rounds in Birmingham in July.

Australia’s men’s team will play Canada in the opening rounds of competition in Birmingham but Great Britain and Italy are in the second group.
