WNWBL: Round 3 Wrap-up

The Flames still hold top honours on the ladder on points differential but the Western Stars have shown they can challenge for the title again this season.

In the highlight of the round, the Western Stars got past the Flames 47-44 in the top-of-the-table clash on Saturday afternoon.

The Flames fought back to be only one point down, 44-45, with a minute to play, but Perth’s Cobi Crispin iced the game from the free throw line and despite two more attempts at the basket the Flames’ shots failed to drop.

As the ladder now stands the Flames are in first place followed closely by the Western Stars, the Victorian Dandenong Rangers are in third place with a 3-8 win-loss record and the Goudkamp Gladiators remain in fourth with 1-10.

The recent WNWBL action has provided some good match practice for the Gliders who will travel to Manchester for the Paralympic World Cup on May 24.
