Basketball Act Launches New Wheelchair Basketball Competition at Belconnen Stadium

Basketball ACT in conjunction with Wheelchair Sport NSW is set to add another competition to their program schedule for Wheelchair Basketball enthusiasts. We are now calling for individual player nominations to join the new program.

Commencing from Monday 24th May Basketball ACT will be hosting a Wheelchair Basketball competition at the Belconnen Stadium.

Games will commence at 5.45pm to 7.30pm. Program Co-ordinators Jesamine Wheeler and Jan Spinks are keen to attract enough keen players to form 4 teams into the new program. The competition format is set down to host 9 weeks of competition culminating with a finals day on Monday 16th August.

Wheelchair basketball across Australia attracts players with and without a disability to the game. Many able-bodied players with difficulty running and jumping who still love the game convert to wheelchair basketball to continue their enjoyment in sport. Sports wheelchairs are provided for all who wish to participate. If you can push a manual wheelchair come and give basketball a go!

Each Monday the court will be available for training from 5.00pm under the guidance of coach Jesamine with two games being played at 5.45pm & 6.40pm.

A team draft will be conducted at Belconnen Stadium on Monday 17th May at 6.30pm to form teams. Individual players are invited to nominate with Basketball ACT Wheelchair competition and forms can be obtained through the stadium ph - 6253 3066 or on our website

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
