Around 80 players, sponsors, volunteers, family and friends celebrated the inaugural Mac Jaguar Magic CBL presentation night last Wednesday evening in style, where a number of individuals were recognized for their efforts and achievements over the 2016-17 CBL season. The night was well received by all involved, as the entertainment, delicious food and the vote count provided plenty of smiles throughout the evening. The CBL presentations concluded the Men’s season on a high, while the Women celebrated their successful regular season, as they had secured a spot on the top of the ladder.

 

Throughout the season players voted on who they believed had the best performances on game day, which encouraged members of the team to strive in rivalry with another to play at their best. The major award winners for the night were:

Women’s Players Player – 142 votes: Olivia Fuller

Runner Up Players Player – 107 votes: Jess Allan

Men’s Players Player – 192 votes: James Fleming

Runner Up Players Player – 191 votes: Josh Murphy

In other awards Tom Butler and Alana Winter took out their respective Best Team Player. Not only were the players acknowledged for their efforts during the season but so were the sponsors in Mac Jaguar, Country Attitude, Millicent Tyre Centre and AceIt, as well as all the volunteers that helped to make the season possible. 

 

The Women’s loss on the weekend in the semi-final against Corio Bay brings the CBL season to a close. The Millicent Basketball Association would like to take this opportunity to firstly thank the players and their parents, all the coaches and their managers, as well as the volunteers that gave their time behind the scenes. Also, the association and the players would like that send out a huge thank you to everyone that supported both the Men and Women’s team in their home and away season.

 

Next season will be no different, as Millicent Basketball will hope to boast both a competitive Men and Women’s team that will contest for the title. Both teams will be looking to produce better results and bigger crowds! We hope you are all looking forward to next season.
