Training Opportunity for Local Basketballers

Shannon always shows a keen interest in the local association program from the Magic teams, local players and the continued development of the stadium facility. Shannon was very impressed with the recent insulation installation and the planned lighting upgrade that Millicent Basketball has embarked on. “This stadium is a better standard and maintained in better condition than any of the courts that are in my area in Sydney”, remarked Seebohm.

Shannon Seebohm was an outstanding junior basketball player in Millicent and spent two years at the Australian Institute of Sport, playing for his country and then playing professionally before health issues prevented him from participating in the playing arena. He has recently embarked on a coaching career in Sydney, where he now resides, and has just been appointed the second assistant coach with the Sydney Kings NBL franchise.

Upon knowing Shannon would be in Millicent, a last minute invite was issued to some local ‘Wattle Range Institute of Basketball’ participants who eagerly took the opportunity to spend some time and work with Shannon on their skills.

Shannon spent two hours at the Millicent Stadium on Saturday afternoon working with 8 local junior players. The session focused on individual ball skills and 1 on 1 offense techniques. Shannon was impressed with the level of understanding, skills and eagerness to learn of the junior players.

The players that participated were very appreciative of this rare opportunity and found the session informative and rewarding.
