Hawks SBL Men Into Grand Final
The 2009 SBL Grand Final teams have all been finalised after an intense Semi Final series over the weekend.
Unfortunately, in the WSBL, the Lady Hawks suffered a huge upset loss to Mandurah in game 2, which ended our grand final aspirations. Game one was played in Mandurah 80-73 and in game two, at home on Friday night, the final score was 66-57. It was the only time all season we have lost two games in a row, and after finishing the season as minor premiers, was obviously a huge disappointment.
Willetton Tigers won the other women’s series against Kalamunda Suns 77-55, 83-82 and 78-51. Willetton Tigers will take on Mandurah Magic in the WSBL Grand Final at Perry Lakes Stadium on Friday 21st August. Tip-off 7:30pm. Tickets for the WSBL game can be purchased from Basketball WA (Telephone: 9284-0555 or go into their office at Perry Lakes).
In the Men's competition we are thrilled to advise our Hawks Men took care of the Kalgoorlie Giants in two games of the semi-final series and go straight through to the Grand Final this Saturday. Scores against Kalgoorlie were 94-91 and 104-99. In the other semi final series, the Lakeside Lightning took out Geraldton Buccaneers in two games, 97-81 and 91-87.
So Perry Lakes Hawks will take on Lakeside Lightning in the MSBL Grand Final this Saturday, 22nd August. Tip-off 7:30pm.
Basketball WA website has the Lightning as favourites given they won the minor premiership, but note that Lightning have a 1-1 record in 2009 against the Hawks (we finished 6th). In Round 15 Lightning beat us 92-83, but in Round 17 we took the points 100-88. Tickets are selling very quickly but you can still get General Admission tickets through the Hawks office. Adults are $15-00 and children under 12 are $10-00.

2. Call in to Hawks office after 11:00am to purchase, OR

Tickets may be paid for by cash or credit card and can be collected from the Hawks office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday between 11:00am and 5:00pm. Please note that tickets MUST BE COLLECTED & PAID FOR BY THURSDAY 5PM. First in get the tickets. Go Hawks!
