350th GAME FOR LADY HAWKS CAPTAIN

Lady Hawks Captain Tanya Kelly will celebrate her 350th game this Friday night, in the second game of the SBL semi-final round against Mandurah Magic.

Tanya, who started her basketball career at the age of 10, joined the club’s WSBL team in 1999 and has enjoyed great success since. Tanya contributed to five of the Lady Hawks’ premierships, including 2002-04 and 2007-08 and was named MVP of the WSBL in 2006, which she includes as one of her career highlights.

“In 1998 I made my first all-star team. We traveled to Thailand and China and played a couple of tournaments. It was the only year an all-star team has traveled to play. 2006 was also very memorable as we didn't make the grand final, but I won MVP of the league," Tanya said of her most memorable moments.
 
Tanya has been the Captain of the Lady Hawks since 2007, leading the team in their last two premierships. Hoping to take the title for the third consecutive year, Tanya makes sure she provides positive encouragement and helps to keep the team focused.

"I don't think too much about things during the day but as soon as I step through the stadium door I am focused on the game and what I will have to do to play at my best and get my team ready to play," said Tanya of her preparation for this Friday's match, "I'm sure the girls will be fired up, not only because it's a semi-final but to celebrate my milestone with a win.

Perry Lakes Hawks congratulate Tanya for achieving this outstanding milestone and encourage supporters to come down and watch her lead her team in this Friday's semi-final, to be held at 7.30pm at Perry Lakes Stadium.
