HAWKS SIGN WAYLAND BAPTIST COLLEGE GUARD ROB WATERS

Perry Lakes Hawks are very pleased to announce the signing of former Wayland Baptist men's basketball All-American Robert Waters to their Men’s SBL team for the 2017 season.

Waters, a native of Austin, played at North Lake College in Irving before joining Wayland in 2014, making an immediate impact by helping them win their first-ever Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament championship and earning second-team All-SAC honours.

Last season, Waters guided Wayland to another SAC Tourney title and earned conference tournament MVP honours while averaging 21 points and five rebounds a game. He was first team All-SAC, third team NAIA All-American, and is a member of the Pioneers' 1,000-point club (1,103).Coach of WBU Ty Harrelson said of Waters: “It's a great opportunity for Rob and I'm really proud of him that he gets that chance. The Hawks are considered the most successful franchise in the league”

The 6-foot-1 Waters will travel to Australia in early 2017 in preparation for the tip-off to the season in March.

New Hawks Head Coach Matt Parson said of Waters: “
I’m really happy to have Rob on board with the Hawks in 2017; first and foremost he is of high character and comes from a fantastic program. We have seen a few Wayland Baptist players come through our league but Rob comes with some pretty substantial accolades; he has been the team leader as they have captured the last 2 Conference Championships whilst he has gained all American honours."

We look forward to meeting Rob in 2017 and are excited to watch him play.
