Hawks Referee Program on the Right Track
With the Hawks Junior Competition Grand Finals taking place over the past weekend, it was time to acknowledge our referees who without, this competition would not happen.
During the 2015 season, we had 120 registered referees and averaged about 50 referees a week refereeing games. We had 40 new referees start in 2015 after completing the Community ref course and 20 of these became green shirts.
Not only did the referees officiate in Junior Competition games we also had 24 refereees officiate in WABL games each week – 7 of these refs got finals and 5 were rewarded with WABL grand finals - Nick Sokolich, Ethan Lloyd, Adam Mayer , Tom Broadbridge and Katie Sheen.
Adam Mayer was selected to represent WA at the Southern Cross tournament in January and also made draft panel for SBL.
Nick Sokolich was selected to represent WA at the U14 Club Nationals tournament in October and Kyle Barrow and Adam Mayer named reserves.
The program was administered by Georgia Clarke and Kyle Barrow but due to full-time employment Georgia had to relinquish this role in mid July leaving Nick Sokolich & Ethan Lloyd to step into the role.
At their wind-up and award presentations, the group thanked Georgia for all her hard work over the past few years. Details of all award recipients are attached.
We will continue to nuture this program and we look forward to continuing this success.
