Our Lady Hawks have had a good start to the SBL season with an impressive opening home match and then on the road to Cougarland. Last Friday our team showed mental toughness against a tough Deanna Smith lead Cougars team. Last year when we played against the Cougars it felt like we were pushed around during the match and we did not respond well to being pushed around by the Cougars. There was a noticeable difference in how we played on our first road trip and responded to being pushed around. The Cougars started out strong and shot very well in the 1^st quarter. We were tested early and to the teams credit responded with mental toughness. It was another team effort that helped us win the match. Well done to the entire team.

This week we find ourselves again on the road against the Mandurah Magic who have started the season off well with a 2-0 record. They have one of the top guards in the history of the competition in Casey Mihovilovich who has been responsible for the Magic’s on-court success in recent years. This will be another test to for our team. We will need to put in another team effort to compete and have success. We are growing stronger each week and continue to show what a complete team we are becoming. The team has responded well to the structures that are in place. When we are at full strength we are a very dangerous team. We must continue to be hungry for success each week in our preparations for the upcoming weekend matches. The coaches and players are working collectively hard to prepare for the battles ahead.

The games this weekend are at the Mandurah Recreation Centre on Saturday night with WSBL tip off 6.00pm and MSBL 8.00pm.
