Team Hawks Statisticians Spotlight

How long have you been doing Hawks Stats for?

Tammy: I have been doing stats for just over 18 months.
Brock: This is my 4th year. My first few games were at the old Perry Lakes
Stadium.

What made you decide to get into it and become a statistician?
Tammy: Both my kids play basketball and I thought it would be a nice way
to learn more. I really enjoy watching the game so it’s worked out well.
Brock: I saw it advertised online. I had no idea what to expect but given how
much I love basketball I thought I’d give it a go.

Favourite things about being such a big part of game nights?

Tammy: It would have to be watching the young players improve through
the season and just being part of the amazing Hawks atmosphere.
Brock: Sitting at the stats bench, you're so close to the action that you get
fully immersed in the game. It can get pretty hectic at times so there's never
a dull moment. Hawks have always had pretty good teams while I’ve been
here, so i enjoy being involved in a winning culture.

We have put the call out for volunteers to join the Stats crew - please
share your thoughts on why they should join and the benefits they will
get out of it.

Tammy: It’s so great being a part of the Hawks crew. You get to meet so
many nice people. You get plenty of training and it’s easy to learn. We have
lots of fun watching an exciting game from the best seats in the house!
Brock: The two stats positions (calling and input) become second nature
after a few weeks so you are essentially just a fan watching the best players
in the state, from the best seats in the house. It's easy to learn, and Tammy
and myself always have fun.

Anything else you would like to add?

Tammy: Go Hawks!!!
Brock: Good luck to the lads in the Semi's! Go Hawks!
