I feel like Bill Murray in the 1993 classic Groundhog Day where Murray finds himself in a time loop repeating the same day over and over again. In the film Murray uses the experiences he has had re-living the same day to improve himself, after a short period of causing absolute mayhem, and everyone around him to eventually come out on top. 

You are probably thinking that I’ve gone a little loopy comparing a movie to our current situation, being 1-0 down in a Semi Finals series against a team that has only lost 1 game in 2 months, but it’s actually quite relevant. Just two weeks ago we were in exactly the same scenario having to win game 2 to keep our season alive and in the last weekend of the season we needed to win a double header to keep second position. On both of these occasions we were able to hang tough and get the required result.

We definitely would have preferred to get the win on Saturday but are confident that we can turn the tables, starting tonight. I thought defensively we struggled to handle their shooters and let them dictate terms for the majority of the game. We discussed controlling possession and winning the battle of the boards as keys to success but were beaten convincingly in these areas on the night. We know that we can win this series if we play solid defense and improve in these key areas. To put it simply Wanneroo were determined to win and seemed more desperate at crucial times of the game, this is a good lesson for our young squad to learn now rather than in a decider like Friday night.

Thankfully due to the hard work we put in during the regular season we are playing on our home floor tonight to peg this series back. We have been here before and are prepared to lay it all on the line. We have the best starters in the league and are deeper than anyone has given us credit for, look at the energy that these guys will bring tonight. We have prepared well and just need to control the tempo, stick to the plan and execute.

Thanks to all of the fans that have supported us so far. I hope that you all understand how important it is the have your support and tonight you cheering the team on may give us the extra leg we need to get over the line in front. Be loud and be proud because the players will not give in and will definitely give you a reason to be a proud Perry Lakes person this weekend.
