Charles Nix - Saturday Game Night preview

The great Michael Jordan once said: “There is no ‘i’ in team but there is in win”

For anyone that was at the games on the weekend this is exactly how we played. As a team I feel we can beat anyone and we played two great team games to put us 2 games clear in second place on the ladder. We played tough, hard and most importantly together.

Friday night was a good opportunity for the 12 players suited up to get minutes as we executed well enough in the first 3 quarters to build a lead. The 4th quarter was really impressive from my point of view because we were able to extend the lead with our bench who did a great job of staying the course and executing on both ends. Saturday night was always going to be a tough game with so much at stake for both teams. East Perth had a tough weekend leading into the game and would have put everything into preparing for us. We went in knowing that we needed to play 4 quarters, something we have struggled with all year, to win the game. To the teams credit we trailed at every break and then won the 4th quarter to take the game. I thought our defence was exceptional and we ran the offence to a t. Saying that the team is very aware that we have some adjustments to make if we want to improve.

This weekend we are heading up the road to Warwick to play a rejuvenated Stirling outfit that have come off a couple of good weekends and are full of confidence. They have just beaten Mandurah, who defeated us only two weeks ago, so we have prepared for a tough battle. The players to watch out for are definitely there imports Wild and Cooperwood and young guns Throns and Illiadis. The boys are ready to go and will not take this opposition lightly, we understand the importance of this game and have to build on the weekend that we have just had. If we don’t get the required result then the work done in the last couple of weeks is all for nothing.

As always I look forward to seeing our amazing supporters in the stands cheering on the team.

As ONE
