Hawks WABL 14 Boys heading to Darwin

The Hawks U 14 WABL boys earnt the right to compete in the 2013 U 14 Boys Club Championship by finishing in the top three at the end of the 2012 WABL season and this year the Club Championships are being held in Darwin, NT from 30th September through to October 5th.

The team is coached by Shane Perret with his able assistants Ash Carlton and Mark Oberman, and kept in line by their hard working manager – Sheila Lamont.

Under the current format for the U 14 Boys Club Championships, the 24 teams are divided into six pools of four teams and play in a round robin competition. The top two teams in each pool then play for the Championship division and the team placed third and fourth in each pool, compete for the Shield division. The winner of the U 14 Boys Club Championship are awarded the Ken Watson Championship Trophy whilst the winner of the shield division receives the Phil Smyth Shield.

It costs the boys parents quite a substantial amount to take up this opportunity to compete at the end of the season and as a result, you will have seen fundraising activities taking place throughout the stadium, from sausage sizzles, to movie nights, cook book sales and wine sales. Their next big event is “Bogan Bingo” taking place on June 22^nd and tickets are available through the team members.
