Game Night Staff Spotlight

Hawks has a team of dedicated game night staff who help out behind the scenes each and every week. Their contributions to the club are valued and we want to share the great work they’re doing. This week we’re paying thanks to our wonderful door lady Chrissy, who has been a part of Team Hawks for over eight years.

What exactly do you do on game nights?

I sell tickets to the spectators, put the programs on display, issue the keys to the change rooms, pay game night staff, reconcile door takings and meet and greet the opposition. I am generally the first person the public see on game night.

 How long have you helped out on game nights?

Approximately 8 years (paid work) and prior to that I used to help out as a volunteer

What made you want to help out on game nights?

My son Philip was asked to be a floor wiper, and as a junior referee, often refereed during half time. He also helped with the drinks and other volunteer jobs.

He then progressed to doing stats and I started spending more time at the stadium. The door job became available and I was offered the position.

Favourite things about being involved and being such a big part of our game nights?

I’ve gotten to meet not just fantastic players and our Committee but I have interacted with the other associations and I have been told that I make everyone coming through the door welcome.

Some games are nail biting and can add to the excitement of the night and the enjoyment. I find my job very important and I always enjoy the atmosphere.
