Hawks sign The Beast

The Perry Lakes Hawks Men’s SBL team have announced the signing of their second import, 6 foot 8 post player Shane Ross.

Ross, who hails from Lansing, Michigan, played his college basketball at University of Toledo and Glen Oaks Community College, where he was the 6th highest ranked junior college player in the nation.

He has also spent time playing in the minor leagues in America, playing with the Lake Michigan Admirals of the American Basketball Association (ABA), As well as the Dayton Air Strikers in the Premier Basketball League (PBL).

Ross is expected to form a formidable front court with Ben Purser and Josh Garlepp at the Perry Lakes Hawks this season.

“I want to rebound the ball, get running on the break and finish strong at the ring,” he said.

“I love the rough stuff and all the contact that comes with being a post player.”

Ross comes to the Hawks on the recommendation of Matt Rosinski, who was his roommate at a NBA D-League draft camp in 2010.

“Matt got me the job here and being able to play with him again will be an added bonus.”

The combination of Ross and Rosinski means that the Hawks will have one of the most skilful and athletic import duo’s in the league.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to play in Australia with the Perry Lakes Hawks.” He said

“I’ve heard great things about the club and I can’t wait to get started.”
