Hawks Wrap Up State Champs In Style
The third and final Go for 2 & 5 State Championships were held this weekend with another 7 teams competing in the Under 14, 17 and 19’s age groups.
Two teams came out victorious at the end of the weekend with the Under 19 women led by Belinda O’Halloran overcome a feisty Stirling to win the grand final 46 – 19. This team was compiled of players of many ages from under 16’s to SBL players so the girls did a fantastic job to come together to take the tournament out.
The under 17 men second division defeated Willetton in their grand final with a 41 – 27 shellacking. Coached my Mal Davis this team battled well all weekend winning 3 and drawing 1 of the pool matches to proceed to the finals in second position.
This now concludes the State Championships for 2010, WABL tryouts are being held on Thursday 24th of February.
