Four for WABL Grand Finals

Perry Lakes Hawks congratulates the Women 15, Women 16, Division 1 Women and Division 1 Men for their efforts in reaching the WABL Grand Final Championships this weekend.

Our 15 Women, coached by Craig Clatworthy, were 2008 champions and also competed in the 2008 Under 14 National Club Championships. With a slightly different line-up, the girls will take on Wanneroo Wolves this year. They have met three times this season for a 2-1 result to Hawks (63-71, 62-54, 52-51), the closest in the round 1 finals. Game tips off at 11:00am, Court 7.

The 16 Women, coached by Shane and Whitney Perret, were also 2008 champions, and they too line up in the grand final against Wanneroo Wolves. Of the three times the teams have met, Hawks have a 2-1 lead (44-49, 108-36, 62-45) from their last two meetings. Game tips off at 11:00am, Court 5.

The Glenn & Kelly Ellis combination will lead the Division 1 Women against Lakeside Lightning on Sunday at 3:30, Court 5. These two teams have only met once this season and that was back in round 7, where the Hawks won 69-39. The Hawks girls are coming off a tough semi-finals entry, beating Wolves by 2 points. Lightning took out Redbacks 77-66.

The Division 1 Men, coached by Dan Fisher, will front up to contest back-to-back championships, albeit with a much different group from last year's, and against Wanneroo Wolves. In Week 1 of the semis we took the win 76-59 so we have the current wood, but during the season Wanneroo had 2 wins 80-92  and 88-79. Game tips off at 3:30pm, Court 1.

Congratulations and best of luck to our Hawks grand finalists!

ps  All Hawks teams are reminded to be present at the presentations after each of the grand final time-slots for the All-Star awards. Hawks have thirteen players receiving All-Star awards this season.

Also, the Hawks WABL Wind-up will be held on Court 7 straight after the final grand final presentations. All welcome.
