The overall year result for the football competition in the Far West League is very satisfying, there is still room for improvement in some areas but all our clubs, players, supporters and administrators can be proud of the results.
The aggregate crowds for paying patrons attending the major round series was down by only 33 people as compared with 2015.
This is an indication that the Far West League is being strongly supported in its promotion of the game and the strength and eveness of the competition.
A feature of the year has been the closeness of the majority of the games throughout the minor round, even though Thevenard were the trend setters, nothing could be taken for granted concerning who was going to win each match.
Grand Final day was the culmination of a lot passion and hard work by everyone who understands how important football is in the social fabric and makeup of our community.
Secretary Mike Lowe, Treasurer Richard Wilkinson and Junior Football Organiser Glenn Dunn deserve a great deal of praise in the way they have handled their responsibilities in such a professional and loyal manner.
We look forward to season 2017 with a plan to continue improving the game, growing our volunteer base and further developing Auskick and football for young women. The latter will not be done without suitable consultation with Netball administrators so as to ensure both sports continue to grow into the future.
This will be done by keeping our eye firmly on the ball in all aspects so that the residents of Ceduna and surrounding areas can be truly proud of their local competition.
