A total of approximately 800 junior footballers are catered for each weekend. There are four Age Groups, Under 10, 12, 14 & 16. It is hoped that all clubs will field a team in each age group, but sometimes this is not possible. The Under 10s play with some modified rules, such as no kicking off the ground, only one bounce before kicking or handballing, etc. It is aimed at providing an opportunity for kids of all abilities to get out there and have a go. All games are subject to a Mercy rule with games called and scores capped where there is a onesided contest
In 2013 games are played on a Saturday with the majority of games at the traralgon west sporting complex. At least 1 set of games are held each week away from the complex alternating between venues at Churchill, Glengarry, and Duncan Cameron reserve in Traralgon.
For further information about the League or finding a club, please contact the League Administration on 51740051.
For a child to be eligible to play, he/she must turn eight(8) in that year of the competition as per the rules of the VCFL. Please note, that some clubs may not have space to accommodate children this young, as the League has "caps" for each team in each age group to try and provide an even playing field for all age groups, along with ensuring the clubs have sufficient numbers going up each year to field teams in the higher age groups.
