Mornington Full forward, Simon Goosey will this weekend join the MPNFL 300 Club when he plays his 300th Senior MPNFL Game against the Mornington Football Club traditional Sunday game rival , Mt Eliza.
Simon now 42, first played with Mornington FC back in 1988 kicking 35 goals in his first season and has gone onto play 15 seasons with the Bulldogs playing 250 games to date and kicking a massive 1,588 goals.
In 1991 Simon had a year with Geelong Reserves and 1992 to 1994 played with Frankston Dolphins.
In 2006 to 2008, Simon played at Dromana for 3 seasons playing 49 games and kicked 259 goals.
Simon’s achievements to date include:-
· Played a total of 299 1st XVIII MPNFL Games;
· Kicked a total of 1,847 goals at an overall average of 6.18 goals per game;
· Coach of Mornington Football Club for 10 seasons
· Played in 8 Grand Finals in 9 seasons for 4 Premierships
· Kicked 100 or more goals in a season on 12 occasions – 1989 104 goals, 1996 124 goals, 1997 156 goals, 1998 123 goals, 1999 156 goals, 2000 120 goals, 2001 113 goals, 2002 129 goals, 2003 121 goals, 2004 108 goals, 2005 113 goals, 2006 105 goals.
· He has the record or shares the record for the most goals kicked against 13 of the teams of the 30 teams in which Mornington FC has played against,
· He holds the most goals kicked in the 2nd Semi Final, Preliminary Final and Grand Final for Mornington FC
· Leading Goal Kicker for MPNFL Country Championship games with 12 goals v Goulbourn Valley in 1999
The last 3 seasons has seen Simon helping AFL and VFL clubs with match preparations.
This weekend as Simon Goosey plays his 300th game, on behalf of all football followers, the MPNFL congratulates him on his outstanding career, for he has entertained many people with antics and brilliance since 1988 and has done this with regularity.
