The following players will be presented with their medallions today following the Under 18 game, by a member of the Victorian Police Force:-
Peninsula FL - Chris Hatzis, Chelsea FC
Nepean FL - Jack Townsend, Tyabb FC
Casey Cardinia - Matthew Duggan, Devon Meadows FC
The Spirit of Football Awards Program seeks to reward positive behavior on the field by encouraging and identifying fair play, sportsmanship and mutual respect among teammates, opponents and umpires. At the same time the program seeks to build lasting
relationships between local youth and Victoria Police.
The Spirit of Football Awards Program was developed in 2001, and today a number of leagues around Victoria have implemented the Spirit of Football Awards Program and as a result of the program there has been a dramatic reduction in the number of on field reports and also a significant reduction in youth assaults within the regions.
The MPNFL hope to impress upon young people that winning at all costs is not as important as how the game is played and how we treat and respect others who are also trying to achieve enjoyment from the sport.
MPNFL is proud to join this list of leagues rewarding the positive player behavior.
