Under 18’s Development/Colts Competition
The MPNFL Board met on the 13th of March to consider an Under 18’s Development
Competition proposal received from a group of Peninsula football netball league clubs.
Clubs.
After consideration of the proposal the board unanimously endorsed its original
resolution passed on the 22nd of August 2013 that no form of Development/Colts
Competition will be conducted within the MPNFL playing structures in 2014.
CEO Jeff Jones said “the board was concerned that a number of clubs within the
Peninsula and Nepean competitions are struggling to field one under 18 team and it
would not be appropriate to allow clubs to field an additional under 18’s team that would
be to the determent of underage football on the Peninsula”.
It’s our view that Senior and Junior Leagues in-conjunction with AFL South East Regional
Commission come to together and work towards ensuring we have the right football age
group structures to ensure our competitions are viable and that they promote clear
pathways in the future.
