We are hoping that the general footy community to get behind the first ever contested AFL women’s match between Melbourne Football Club and Western Bulldogs FC. More than 250 players aged 17 years and above nominated for the AFL Women’s Draft providing the vehicle to excite female players across Australia. The top 50 footballers in Australia have been selected to represent the two AFL Clubs. The MFC actively sought this home game for Women's Round to bring to life the work we have been doing in the last four years in female participation.
As you would be aware, the match will take place under lights on Saturday June 29 on the MCG as the feature of Women’s Round (Round 14). For the first time teams will represent AFL clubs and wear club guernseys. We are keen to promote this game to the wider football community and hope you can help communicate to your networks and support the concept via your social media platforms.
There are a limited amount of free tickets available for those women and girls that play or contribute to women’s football. Please note the ticket offer will close Monday 24th June.Register for tickets here http://mfcde.es/womensround
We will also be holding a post match function which includes Q & A with top female footballers from around the country, entry to the ground, a reserved seat and unlimited finger food.
In order to recognise those playing in this memorable game, we are calling for sponsors to support the players. For just $500, a player can be sponsored, and these funds will be given directly to the team to distribute in the best way they see fit. For more information please view our sponsorship page http://teambus.com.au/mfc or http://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/team/womens-team
