Army, Navy and Air Force will go head to head with each other on the footy field.
Victoria will hold the annual Army, Navy and Air Force AFL games this April. This event is open to the public and will be held at Moorabbin Oval (St Kilda’s old ground) on Tues 17th, Thurs 19th and Sat 21st April.
A men’s and women’s AFL team will play against each service to decide the champion AFL men and women teams.
The best players of the women’s and men’s team will form a national team who play against the best of the ‘Emergency Services’ team in an Anzac Day curtain raiser on Sat 28th April between Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide.
Army has traditionally held the champion status, however Navy and Air Force have recruited strong teams in 2012.
The teams are made up of full-time Australian Defence Force personal, and part-time personal (known as reservists). Personal come from across Australia to play in this event. They train with their service teams for one week, before playing in the final games the following weeks.
Glenn Archer, ex North Melbourne AFL champion will be attending the Tues 17th April event, to partake in a motivational pep talk to the teams, undertake some training drills and skills and provide motivation to our serving men and women.
