Season 2009 marked the 11th year of the Lexton Plains FLNA in which the League participated in a full Interleague campaign that showcased its talent and strength at the Eastern Oval against Maryborough Castlemaine DFL at Senior & Junior level. Mixed results saw the Senior Football team win very comfortably in wet conditions while the A Grade netball was no match for a fast MCDFNL unit.
Carngham Lionton's Jason Hill was the 2009 Peter Smith Memorial Medal winner.
The win has capped off a brilliant season within the Lexton Plains Football League for Jason who is a superb athlete with hard running and contested ball winning ability. Along with his ability to read the play this has made him difficult player to match up on. Jason has played through the midfield for the Carngham Linton FNC this year, with some time spent forward where he has proved just as damaging. He also captained the victorious LPFLNA in Interleague Football in 2009, being one of the better players on the day. An exceptional player, and his first year back in the league, Jason takes out the 2009 Peter Smith Memorial Medal.
Rokewood Corindhap coach Tom Mullane-Grant won the Tanya Daniels-The Good Guys Goal Kicking award with 74 goals for the Grasshoppers. Tom takes out this prestigious award in his first season in the League. Despite a leg injury that kept him out from Round 11 onwards, Tom was a prolific goal kicker for the Grasshoppers who was on track to boot a ton. Tom is Rokewood Corindhap’s playing coach, a natural leader who leads by example. His impact on the scoreboard was significant in the grasshoppers early season form and his instruction and direction a major influence on their run home. A two time winner of the GDFL goal kicking award, Tom adds this award to his outstanding list of achievements.
An impressive season for Natte Bealiba's Ingrid Hopkins saw her claim the Lyn Bibby Medal for Senior Netball Best & Fairest.
Ingrid is a superb all-round Netballer for the Natte Bealiba FNC and takes out this prestigious award for the first time. Ingrid has been adaptable in playing both Defence and Attack throughout the season. Her athleticism and superior judgment allowed her to always be in the play and provide the perfect link in moving the ball up the court. Her accuracy while in goals was a feature of her play also. Ingrid is well respected at Natte, a tremendous team player who gives her all. We congratulate Ingrid on this achievement.
It was a good year for the Carngham Linton FNC who claimed the Ray Fisher Memorial Club Championship award.
