The Goulburn Valley League is pleased to announce a new partnership with Goulburn Valley Water on a brand new initiative for the league.
GV Water and their ‘Choose Tap’ program are the sponsors of the GVL Netball Umpire Development Program. A training day is to be held Wednesday 6th of September in Kialla for all netball umpires that are umpiring in the GVL finals games.
GV Water provide water and wastewater services to a population of 125,000 (over 60,000 customers) in 54 towns who are connected to 37 water supply systems and 26 wastewater management facilities.
GVL Chairman David Roff welcomed their newest partner.
“With finals starting this weekend, this new partnership couldn’t have come at a better time,” he said.
“Ensuring our umpires feel equipped with the knowledge and confidence they need is not only important for them, but for the efficiency of the games.”
“All games in the GVL are equally as important, but there’s a much larger scrutiny and focus on finals games and ensuring we look after our netball umpires is of high importance to us.”
GV Water’s Communications Assistant, Karen Ranson, sees the partnership as a fantastic way to link to their ‘Choose Tap’ program and to the local community whilst promoting the ongoing development of the netball umpires.
“We are really proud to be on board with this initiative” she said.
“We also recognise the crucial role that football netball clubs have in their local town as a central hub for sport, social and community development.”
“As an organisation our role is to help the local community to increase awareness of the health and environmental benefits of drinking tap water.”
“So to be getting our message across and also assisting in the development of our local umpires and netball in general is really satisfying.”
Leah Saunders, a long-serving umpire and GVL Netball Umpire Coordinator is excited to be able to deliver this training.
“This is a project that I am very passionate about so to see it get up off the ground and offer some further training to our already invaluable netball umpires is really exciting and I thank GV Water for jumping on board.”
