The Goulburn Valley League will induct a fourth group of members into its Hall of Fame at a special Hall of Fame function on Sunday 3 June, to be held at the League’s function partner, the Shepparton RSL.
Five new members will be inducted into the Hall of Fame with an exciting new addition to the Hall of Fame being the first netballer. Netball inclusion in the Hall of Fame has been possible due to the merger of the football and netball Leagues into the one organisation at the beginning of the 2017 season.
Chairman of the GVL Hall of Fame Committee Freddo McMahon praised the vision of the Board in adding netball to the Hall of Fame.
“We are delighted with the success of the previous Hall of Fame functions and now looked forward to recognising another group of people who have played a role in the success of the League” he said.
“A major highlight of this year’s event will be the induction of the first netballer into the Hall of Fame which will add another dimension and recognises the GVL as a genuine football and netball League.”
“We will also be inducting a second legend to join Robbie Orrman, Legends are chosen only from the current members of the Hall of Fame.”
“The GVL Hall of Fame Committee consists of eminent GVL people who have the responsibility of researching the League’s long and illustrious history and then recommending people to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.”
“The Committee considered the performances of players, coaches, administrators and media people for induction and recognition of their considerable service.”
“The event is an invitation only one to be held at the Shepparton RSL with the League inviting inductees and family members, current Hall of Fame members, club representatives and special guests to the function on 3 June.”
“The event is one of the big highlights of the year as the League celebrates its history and recognises those who have been such an important part of it over the years.”
