SIMPLE GOAL FOR YOUNG PIE
Kayne Davidson has one goal he wants to achieve this season and that is to break into the senior team.
The 17-year-old is the latest Rising Star nominee and is hoping to add to the two games he already he has to his name from 2016.
And he wants to be able to be part of a winning senior team with both his games last year defeats.
“That has been my aim since the pre-season and the coaching group have told me some of the things I need to do to improve and one would be my composure with ball in hand.”
Davidson says JD Hayes has been outstanding in his short tenure as coach and he was particularly demanding of the group to learn his structures.
“I starting to really understand the structures and the other thing that I really need to do is get used of the game at senior level. It is a lot faster and every bloke has the ability to run and carry the football,” he said.
He ranks his premiership successes as a junior with the Euroa Junior Football Club as career highlights while he also acknowledges the experience of last year’s grand final will not be forgotten on him.
“It was hard to take the loss as I hadn’t lost a grand-final that I played in, but United deserved its win,” he said.
He says this year is also proving to be a good challenge as a top age thirds player, with a lot of last year’s grand final team going up to the seconds and into the senior team.
“This year is proving to be a big learning curve,” he said.
Davidson is currently completing a school-based apprenticeship as he is in his final year of schooling at Euroa Secondary College.
