The GOTAFE GVFL has been highlighting volunteers and coaches throughout the year and also announcing a volunteer of the month who will be in the running to be voted and nominated GOTAFE GVFL volunteer of the year at the Morrison Medal night.
Congratulations go to Simon Pogue from the Tatura Football Netball Club who is the GOTAFE GVFL Volunteer of the Month (June).
Simon is in his first year on the Tatura Football Netball Club Board and has taken on the roles of Community Integration Coordinator as well as that of Social Coordinator.
Simon had a very busy mid-year period as during the months of June and July he was either arranging events or assisting the local community in arranging events. The social calender for the Tatura club has been very busy with the Hungi Night, Annual Ball, Players Function and the annual Goods and Service Auction all being great successes which can be largely contributed to Simon’s work behind the scenes.
At Tatura not only are they looking to ensure the club is in a good position financially but also there is an understanding that they need to be leaders in the community. With that in mind Simon has been on the front foot and arranged for several community events such as a visit to our club’s Thursday Night Dinner by the local Rotary Club as well as a free mental health night for the community held at the Ballantyne Centre.
Amazingly Simons efforts within the Tatura community doesn’t stop there. He does the role within Tatura Football club whilst also acting as President of the Tatura Netball Association, which involves weekly attendance at Friday night junior netball as well as Saturday’s SNA games in Shepparton.
Simon is a tireless worker, representing both the Tatura Football Netball Club and Tatura Netball Association and should be congratulated for his dedication to the sports of football and netball in the Tatura Community
Tim Nihill President of Tatura said “Simon does a magnificent job providing the club with opportunities to ensure they are able to be sustainable through the fundraising events”
“Also the club is very aware of its responsibility to the local community and Simon’s ability to engage organisations like Rotary to assist in delivering the Mental Health Awareness Forum is fantastic”
The amount of hours Simon volunteers to the club is outstanding and very much appreciated by all footballers, netballers, supporters and committees and the GOTAFE GVFL board, staff and clubs would like to congratulate Simon for being Junes GOTAFE GVFL Volunteer of the Month.
