Arch rivals, Seymour and Euroa, clash in round 15 at Kings Park, Seymour, today. The Lions in the six at 9-6 need the points against the Magpies who are second at 13-2 because the Swans, who are desperate to get back into the six, are at seventh spot on 8-7. This should be an outstanding game of football with both sides coming off big wins and Pies goal kicker, Robert STAFF, still coming down from kicking 19 goals against the lowly Bulldogs last Saturday. His tally has taken him to the top of the goal kicking ladder with 51 for the season to date while his team mate, Jett TROTTER booted seven to go to 30.
Kyle WINTER-IRVING has been booting goals for the Lions who had a hard hit out against the Swans at Princess Park last Saturday and that game will do them the world of good coming up against the Pies. The Pies will find the opposition a lot different today and coach Gavin WILLIAMS will remind the boys of starting well against the Lions.
Another former GV star, Matthew O’SULLIVAN will ask the Lions for a big effort again today to help consolidate their place in the six.
Mooroopna will be looking to get four points for playing and beating Shepparton over at the Cattery and Tim KELLY will not have to remind the Bears another defeat will just about mean the finish of finals footy. The Cats had a mammoth win against Rochy and they will be looking for another four points against the Bears.
Mansfield will be hoping for a win against Benalla to kick off a day of celebrations but the Saints look too talented for the Eagles. This will be a big day for the Eagles with the opening of the reserve redevelopment by former champion football and local member of parliament Bill SYKES. However, the Saints won’t be letting this game get away from them and they will remain on top of the ladder.
Shepp United will be at home to the Swans who are looking for a win to get back in the six while bottom sides Tatura and Rochester will have a close contest at Tatura.
Tomorrow Echuca and Kyabram will put on a grand opening to the day’s footy with a close contest at Ky. The Murray Bombers are third at 10-5 and the Bombers fifth at 9-5 which augurs well for footy eye candy.
