With so many exciting developments at Memorial Oval Euroa, none are bigger than the emergence of talented youth and Nate Trotter certainly fits the bill in this regard. Nate is the Euroa Football Netball Club’s Mooroopna Golf Club Rising Star nomination for round five.
Nate began his love of football as so many players have done before him through the Auskick program. Here Nate was involved between the ages of 7 to 10 in the Euroa Auskick program prior to starting to play for the Euroa Junior Football Netball Club when he was 11. Nate has had team success in junior football winning premierships at under 12, under 14 and under 16 levels over the years. Nate’s individual success throughout this time has included winning multiple club best and fairest awards and league (Seymour District Junior Football Netball League) best and fairest awards. Nate has also been part of many representative junior football teams. He was selected in 2011 as a bottom age player for the Division 3 Goulburn Murray Schoolboy – winning the team award for best player in this carnival. In 2012, Nate made the Division 1 Goulburn Murray Schoolboys, winning the best player for this team at the same carnival. Nate was also able to represent the Under 15 Victorian Country team in 2012 at the National Carnival in Adelaide – a highlight of his junior football. In 2012, whilst still playing under 16 football,, Nate played a number of under 18 matches for Euroa and was selected as a 15 year old to play for the seniors against Shepparton Bears in late 2012, rising to the occasion and kicking 3 goals on debut and contributing to a rare win at the time for the team. In 2013, Nate played the throughout the year for the Under 18’s as well as being selected for the Murray Bushrangers Under 16 team, of which he was appointed joint captain. He was named as emergency for the Victorian Country Under 16 team to compete at the national carnival. A team highlight in this year was the chance to play in finals football for the Magpies Under 18’s. So far this season Nate has played the first two matches in the seniors being named among the best on both occasions and selected to play the last two games for the Murray Bushrangers (under the ‘23rd man rule’). Nate has, thus far, concentrated all his sporting efforts into the game of football and with wonderful support from his family – mum Anastasia, dad Scott, younger brother Jet and younger sister Sienna – he certainly has many of the ingredients that will allow for much greater achievements into the future.
Euroa president, Scott Watson, said the Magpies were very proud to have such a wonderful young man and family involved in their club and wishes Nate the very best going forward. As a side note – Nate has been the central umpire each week thus far this year for the under 12 and under 14 matches for the Euroa Junior Football Netball Club. This is a task he does without coercion and is simply something he ‘feels’ is the right thing to do! A quality young man indeed.
