Euroa are into the Reserves grand final, while their opponents last Saturday, Kyabram, play Benalla in today’s prelim. The Saints have the chance of having three sides in the granny as their thirds today play Seymour and the chance of taking out the trifecta of flags, to equal this remarkable achievement firstly in 1980 by Shepparton United who were coached by none other than ”The Panther” Des CAMPBELL. Then, twenty years later in 2000, Shepparton achieved the trifecta when their seniors knocked off their Deakin Reserve co-tenants United by 27 points - Shepparton 15.5 (95) to Shepparton United 9.14 (68). Earlier in that September day of 2000 the Shepp Reserves defeated Benalla 8.8 (56) to 5.9 (39) and Shepp's Under 18's defeated Echuca 5.14 (44) to 5.7 (37). To get your three teams into the Grand Final is a pretty remarkable effort but to win the three; well, that is just sensational.
In the Under 18’s, Echuca and Seymour clash in a game the Murray Bombers will find hard to win because of the influx of players into the Lions side from Assumption College, the footballers factory. The Magpies, who had a good side all season and only dropped four games for the home and away, started well against the Lions on Sunday at Kyabram but it was the strength of the Seymour side which saw them get up by 21 points.
Likewise, the Murray Bombers will find it tough to get over the Lions today and meet Benalla in the grand final.
Kyle WINTER-IRVING and Xavier DIMASE will be dangerous up forward for the Lions and the Murray Bombers middlle men will have to work hard to cut off supply.
