The Capital Grants project has continued throughout 2010.
By way of background the initiative was to utilise the capital available in the ownership of the Buckley’s building to provide a $100,000 building grant to each member club. These funds were sort to be matched by funding from local Councils or other levels of government. This was a $1.2 million commitment by the league.
Projects completed so far include, Thomson. Werribee Centrals & East Geelong – Social Room Renovations, Bannockburn – Lighting and Ground improvements, Corio, Geelong West & North Geelong – Lighting Projects, Belmont Lions – Scoreboard and Decking and assistance with the Winchelsea Netball Courts project
Currently underway are power upgrades at Anakie, Social Room renovations at Inverleigh and a lighting upgrade at Winchelsea. Discussions are continuing around the renovation of change rooms at the West Oval with Geelong West and Council.
The program has currently contributed over $760,000 into the clubs facilities but has had a net return of close to $2 million so far.
