2010 Season began with 11 teams making up the Corio Bay Health Group Cup, Anakie were the only club not participating while Geelong West combined with St. Josephs F.C. to make up the 11th side.
North Geelong won the premiership and for the second season in a row were champions. They must be congratulated on their junior development program over many seasons to be able to sustain such a high level. Corio Sporting Club were runners-up.
The home and away season culminated with the Ray Ettridge Medal Count held at Bell Post Hill F.C. rooms. Inverleigh's Brent McConachy took out the award from Bannockburn's Shane Dillon (runnerup).
Zac Jahn from Belmont Lions had a fantastic season winning the Goal Kicking Award with 102 goals.
To all the clubs, their coaches, managers, players and volunteers on behalf of the league together with the Third Grade Coordinators I thank you all for your cooperation throughout the season.
Once again I can't thank Geoff McLure enough for doing another great job of the third grade draw along with Robert Drew (GDFL Service Award 2010), Peter Doull and Ian Walsh for their undoubted support throughout the season and more importantly during the final series.
Thanks again to our League Sponsors, Corio Bay Health Group, Victory Trophies and Coca Cola for your support in 2010.
Finally I must stress as I have done in previous seasons to all our clubs, that it is getting more difficult each year to attract players to our league and with the ever growing threat that we may eventually have to join GJF for our clubs junior sections to survive, we have to get smarter and wiser than the other leagues mainly in the area of retaining our players. Let's all try to lift the bar in 2011 and make the Geelong & District Football League a great place to come and play sport.
