Another successful season in 2010 was conducted by the league which culminated in exciting f inals at St. Albans. The standard of competition both in football and netball continues to improve every year.
Bell Post Hill won their first premiership in the Senior division, Werribee Centrals in the Reserves and North Geelong, Premiers and champions for the second year in a row, in the third grade competition.
The netball results were keenly contested in all divisions and I congratulate all the premiership winners.
Madge Anderton in her new role as Netball Manager has done an exceptional job and together with her collegues have had a very successful year and I congratulate her for all the work and time she has put in to make our metball competition such a viable competition.
The clubs continue to embrace the VCFL Sporting Pulse transfer and registration system. A total of 921 clearances were processed this year, which comprised of 520 to join the League and 266 to leave. There were 135 clerances within the League and 145 club registrations for players from the Junior leagues to the Senior body of their clubs.
Congratulations go to all award winners in both football and netball and to all those who partipated throughout the year.
The GDFL Independent Tribunal this year heard a total of 32 cases across the three divisions for the season, 27 players were found guilty and 6 players elected to take a prescribed penalty. On behalf of the League I wish to thank all Tribunal members, and Robert Drew who has been of great assistance throughout the year and to John Miller for his role of Investigation Officer who dealt with three investigations this year, a special thanks too.
Noel Fanning as Media Manager has done an exceptional job for the League as editor of the weekly Match Day record and his production of the radio and television coverage and also arranging and the fantastic live telecast of the Grand Final.
Congratulation to Bill McAuliffe and Janette Watt for being awarded the Presidents Award, for their outstanding contribution to the League and their clubs this year. I also extend my congratulations to Robert Drew for his service award for recognition of his contribution to the league over many years.
I would like to thank Brett Anderson our VCFL Area Manager for his assistance and advice to me and the League throughout the year.
I sincerely thank all Clubs for their grateful assistance throughout the year and also to the Executive for their assistance to me as League Secretary.
